Sarah Bollig Dorn

Ballet Faculty/Adult Program

Sarah Bollig Dorn started dance classes in kindergarten when her parents decided it was their best shot at working out all her little kid energy. She grew up in Kansas, where she studied ballet, modern, tap and jazz at Wichita Children’s Theatre under Kris Anderson, Denise Celestin and Elona Sherwood. Sarah joined Ballet Wichita as a company member in 2001. There she performed for five seasons under director Jill Landrith, achieving the rank of soloist. Favorite roles include Russian and Snow in The Nutcracker, Lady-in-Waiting in Jill Landrith’s Merlin’s Song, and the Cowgirl in Rodeo.

Sarah began her teaching experience at the Children’s Theatre over a decade ago, and has since taught at studios in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Ohio for students age 3 to adult. Ballet has been and remains her primary teaching focus, with an emphasis on performance and age-appropriate technique.

In 2014, she helped found Artisan Ballet Company in Columbus, Ohio, under the leadership of Jessica Kehn. She co-directed and performed in their inaugural showcase as well as an adaptation of Don Quixote, and originated roles in Kehn’s Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

She moved to Spokane in late 2016, and was delighted by the invitation to join the AIM faculty soon after. She is excited to continue sharing her love of ballet with children and adults alike!
